Dávno, dávno, v malebném městě Vimperk, stál zvláštní hotel, který se jmenoval Hotel Boubín. Hotel se rozprostíral uprostřed malebné přírody a nabízel útulné pokoje, vynikající restauraci a především nezapomenutelný pobyt pro všechny hosty. Hotel Boubín byl dřevěný a pečlivě zdobený. Střecha pokrytá šindelem se zlatými květy a okna se špičatými oblouny dodávala hotelu pohádkový vzhled. Ve vstupní hale vítali hosty kouzelník Tramvaják a jeho zvířecí pomocníci – sova Modráček a králík Skokan. Tramvaják byl nesmírně moudrý a uměl šťastnou pohádkovou atmosféru rozsévat kolem sebe. Modráček a Skokan zase bavili hosty svými kouzelnickými triky a vtipy. Pokoje v hotelu Boubín byly jako z nějakého snu. Každý pokoj byl jedinečný a nesl svůj vlastní příběh. Například pokoj s názvem „Lesní království“ byl zdoben zelenými listy a plnými malých zvířátek, která výskala a tančila na stěnách. Ale když Jan vešel do svého pokoje, stalo se něco neuvěřitelného. Pokoj se záře pálavého ohně proměnil ve velkou knihovnu plnou kouzelných knih. Každá kniha měla svou vlastní pouť a Jan si mohl vybrat, kterou cestou se vydat. Rozhodl se pro knihu s názvem „Cesta za štěstím“. Jan se podivil, když kniha začala hovořit.
